"Pedals have a great hold but are slightly trickier to clip in than other SPD models that I’m used to. A bit slow for in and out urban riding with lights and cars and stuff. Just takes some getting used to."
The PD-ES600 is compatible with recessed cleat SPD shoes - that means the cleat is flush with the outer sole. It makes walking easier and safer. When you stop at the coffee shop during your ride, you won’t have to worry about slipping over or sounding like you’re wearing tap shoes.
The PD-ES600 ensures that your hard work counts. Its wide platform provides a large contact area between your shoe and the pedal, for the efficient transfer of power from SPD shoes. Its low weight - it’s our lightest SPD pedal for road bikes - means it won’t slow you down on the climbs.

"Best SPD pedals for gravel riding, much more stable power transfer and even some platform for non SPD shoe riding."
"These are Shimano’s most under rated pedals! I rode Ultegra and Dura Ace on my road bikes and I chose the ES600 for my gravel bike. Only praise and satisfaction. Great pedals. Amazing value. Zero regrets."
"These are excellent pedals: Smooth and solid in operation, relatively light in weight (they are not racing pedals), the platform around the SPD clips makes longer rides more comfortable with less of a "hot spot" in the foot after 100+ km. They are not double-sided, which may inconvenience some riders, but it is still pretty easy to clip in, and there are weight savings over double-sided SPD pedals with platforms, too."
"If I can, I only buy Shimano components. Never had a compliant."
