Great Insulation and Waterproofing

"Warm, waterproof, durable, and performance-oriented for true winter riding. Everything I was looking for in cycling specific shoe"

SH-GE900GTX

"A very comfortable and well constructed cycling shoe!! VERY PLEASED with my purchase!! Albeit, high on the $ amount even for gore-tex."

Flaws.

"I have waited a long time for shimano to make this shoe. The sole is great. The fit is wide and the boa doesn’t help tighten the toe box. The cuff is really tight and pulling it on feels like it won’t last. The cuff is also really absorbent, so you get wet feet once this is wet. Overall not worth the price and I don’t think they will last long."

Not Great.

"I have been wearing Shimano Shoes for about 20 years. I purchased these based off my other shoe the GE-700. These are wider and have more volume, probably to account for the Goretex sock. The Goretex sock has seems on the heel and arch. These are stiff and during break in period can rub. The BOA isn't great, but usable for a 'waterproof' shoe. I get a better fit with laces on the 700's. I am using this for both mounting biking and commuting. This morning was wet, not torrential, and for my 20 minute commute i ended up with wet socks. Overall not a bad shoe, I do not think it is worth $400. If 5. 10 came out with a Goretex Trailcross (clip version of the flat) I would happily switch."

Not great.

"I’m was really excited for the release of this shoe. I have been wearing shimano shoes for about twenty years. Bought my normal size. These are much wider than the GE700 I normally wear. The boa makes it difficult to get a snug fit around the toes. I use these for commuting and mountain biking on Vancouver Island. It’s wet. Yesterday while commuting in light rain, I had damp socks when I got to work. The inner gore Tex sock has a stiff seam on the heel and arch. I hit blisters during the break in period. Overall I do not think this shoes is worth the price."

Wait was worth it.

"Been waiting for this shoe in a clipless for years. Did not disappoint, super solid, breathable, dry. Best fall, winter shoot yet!"

Q&A

I wanted to know if these shoes also have a fleece lining (like the previous MW7s) and are therefore suitable for keeping feet warm even at temperatures around 0 degrees, or if they are designed primarily for autumn and to be waterproof. I'm particularly interested in the cold-weather protection aspect. Thanks.
Hello Marco, The SH-GE900GTX is not insulated. They are intended for wet conditions and relatively cool weather >50°F.
